PDF → REVIEW → CSV

Keep a checkpoint between extraction and import.

CSV is flexible because it is simple. That also means you need to confirm its columns and conventions before another system reads it.

  1. 01

    Import the PDF

Add digital or scanned statements, select the required pages and enter a document password when needed.

  2. 02

    Extract locally

Stmtio reads transaction fields on your computer. Scanned pages use the built-in local OCR component.

  3. 03

    Review beside the source

Check dates, descriptions and signed amounts against the original page. Correct rows or map columns when a layout needs help.

  4. 04

    Preview and save CSV

Inspect the included rows and warnings before saving the reviewed file to a location you choose.

THE STANDARD CSV

Five columns with explicit conventions.

Stmtio writes a comma-delimited file encoded as UTF-8 with a BOM, which helps current spreadsheet apps on Windows and macOS identify the text encoding. Descriptions containing commas, quotation marks or line breaks are quoted by the CSV serializer.

Rows marked as excluded during review are not exported. Formula-like description text is escaped before it is written. The current transaction export supports USD.

AMOUNTS ARE SIGNED

A minus sign is data, not decoration.

STANDARD CSV

Keep the reviewed amount.

The Amount column contains one signed decimal value. Before import, compare payments, withdrawals, deposits and refunds with the original statement and your destination's convention.

DESTINATION MAPPING

Do not assume every importer agrees.

Some tools expect one Amount column. Others ask for separate Debit and Credit columns or reverse the sign during mapping. Test a few representative rows first.

BEFORE A FULL IMPORT

Six checks for the handoff.

  1. Open the file.Confirm accented characters, punctuation and multiline descriptions display correctly.
  2. Map every column.Match Date, Description and Amount deliberately. Ignore Review status only if your destination does not need it.
  3. Confirm the date pattern. The standard export uses YYYY-MM-DD. Change it only when the destination documents another requirement.
  4. Verify amount signs.Check at least one withdrawal, payment, deposit and refund when available.
  5. Compare row counts.Account for excluded rows, headers and any summary lines that should not become transactions.
  6. Import a small sample.Validate the result in the destination before processing the rest of the batch.

CSV OR XLSX

Choose the file your next step expects.

Use standard CSV when you need a plain, portable table and can map the columns in the destination. Use XLSX when you want typed Excel date and numeric cells, filters and a frozen header row.

LOCAL BY DESIGN

The PDF, review data and CSV stay on your computer.

Statement PDFs, extracted text, reviewed transactions and the generated CSV are processed and stored locally. They are not uploaded to Stmtio for conversion.

Stmtio is not completely offline. Sign-in, subscription, device registration and page-allowance checks use online services. Read the Privacy Policy.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you export a CSV.

What columns are in the standard CSV export?

The standard CSV contains Date, Description, Amount, Currency and Review status. Rows marked as excluded during review are omitted.

Which delimiter and encoding does Stmtio use?

Stmtio writes a comma-delimited CSV encoded as UTF-8 with a byte order mark (BOM). Fields containing commas, quotes or line breaks are quoted by the CSV serializer.

How are dates and amount signs written?

The standard CSV uses ISO dates in YYYY-MM-DD format and keeps the signed Amount value you reviewed. Confirm that positive and negative values match the convention required by your destination software.

Can I import the CSV directly into any accounting system?

Not necessarily. Import screens differ by product, edition and configuration. Some expect separate debit and credit columns, another date format or different headers. Test a small file and map the columns before importing a full batch.

Does Stmtio upload statements to create the CSV?

No. Statement PDFs, extracted text, transaction review and CSV creation happen on your computer. Sign-in, subscription, device registration and page-allowance checks use online services.

Which computers can run Stmtio?

Stmtio 0.1.0 is available for Windows x64 and macOS on Apple silicon or Intel. The preview installers are unsigned and may show operating-system warnings.
